Descrizione-Il libro dell’editore Emilio Gabrielli –La Terra è del futuro –non è nato a tavolino né nella sola ricerca speculativa, ma nel silenzioso ascolto delle parole dei tanti autori e dei loro libri che sono stati accolti dalla casa editrice. Il punto di partenza dell’utopia dell’Autore è la sinagoga di Nazaret in Galilea, con l’inizio dell’attività pubblica del giovane rabbi, Yòshua bar Josèph – Gesù figlio di Giuseppe – inserendosi nel solco di una tradizione profetica e culturale che coinvolge il culto, la vita, le scelte di ogni giorno. Partire da Nazaret, quindi, e precisamente dal passo del profeta Isaia che Gesù assunse in prima persona (Lc 4,16-19; cfr. Is 58,6-61,1) e che giunge a noi come progetto di vita integrale. Emilio Gabrielli, come rispondendo al suono dello jobel, si domanda come sia possibile tradurre quel progetto giubilare in pratiche concrete. Cogliendo l’urgenza di portare ad armonia tutti i temi correlati che egli elenca con puntiglio come tappe della sua vita, Gabrielli approda all’ultimo passo, quello economico e politico, che è e resta il banco di prova di ogni scelta. Se oggi siamo alle prese ancora con la proposta di un giubileo, ed Emilio Gabrielli ne descrive un’esigenza ineludibile e improcrastinabile, è segno che i tempi sono maturi. Lo sono anche i cristiani? I laici, credenti e non credenti? Occorre una grande intelligenza per vedere, con gli occhi dell’immaginazione, l’arcobaleno che dal dopo diluvio di Noè si estende alle generazioni future, fino a noi per impegnarci nella costruzione della “Casa comune” di cui non siamo mai proprietari, ma usufruttuari temporanei, col compito entusiasmante di consegnarla ai figli e ai figli dei figli… dei figli, ai quali dovremmo offrirla migliore di quanto l’abbiamo ricevuta. Musa medievale-Saggi su temi della poesia di Venanzio Fortunato

Sinossi-Venanzio Fortunato, poeta latino del VI secolo, ha costituito un ponte tra la cultura antica e quella medievale. Nato a Valdobbiadene e formatosi a Ravenna, estremo fortilizio italico della cultura classica, Venanzio visse nella ferrosa Gallia merovingia, dove poté brillare come poeta grazie al riparo offertogli da Radegonda e Agnese, nobildonne ritiratesi in un monastero con le quali intrecciò un affettuoso legame cantato in versi che sembrano anticipare la lirica cortese. Profondo conoscitore dei classici ma anche ardito sperimentatore, è stato a sua volta considerato un classico e perciò è stato ammirato e imitato da un nutrito stuolo di poeti medievali, Dante compreso, ma qualcosa della sua poesia si rintraccia ancora in Foscolo, Huysmans, Joyce e perfino in Reinhold Messner e anche nella musica di Pierluigi da Palestrina, Giacomo Puccini e, inaspettatamente, di un gruppo tedesco folk metal. Al di là delle riprese puntuali, a Venanzio la tradizione poetica occidentale deve soprattutto lo spudorato rilancio di quel gusto per le scintille di parola che secoli dopo si chiamerà barocco.

Descrizione-Il Dipartimento dei Beni Culturali della Chiesa della Pontificia Università Gregoriana ha realizzato nel 2009 un progetto di inventariazione dei paramenti sacri dell’Abbazia di Farfa (sita nel comune di Fara Sabina, in provincia di Rieti), ponendosi l’obiettivo di valorizzare, nell’ambito di uno studio scientifico, un importante patrimonio storico, culturale e religioso.Il volume illustra dunque i paramenti inventariati, facendo cenno all’arte tessile e al linguaggio dei colori liturgici, e fornisce anche una descrizione della Chiesa abbaziale e della storia farfense.Il testo è inoltre corredato dalle foto della Chiesa e di alcuni dei paramenti conservati nell’Abbazia.Uno studio di sicuro interesse per gli appassionati di storia della Chiesa.
Alcuni dei paramenti liturgici sono nei colori liturgici del periodo dell’anno liturgico o della particolare celebrazione.
Il termine “paramento liturgico” è riservato ai particolari tipi di abbigliamento propri della liturgia, benché in essa si adoperino anche altri abiti particolari che usano il clero (diaconi, presbiteri, vescovi) o i religiosi fuori dalla liturgia per sottolineare il loro particolare stato.
Nei secoli VIII e IX incominciò a introdursi una varietà di colori al posto dell’unico colore bianco.
cotta: è di colore bianco e viene indossata sulla veste talare, come abito corale o per azioni liturgiche al di fuori della messa, eventualmente insieme alla stola;
rocchetto: è una sopravveste bianca, solitamente di lino, con maniche strette e lunga fino a mezza gamba; simile alla cotta, è proprio dei prelati;
dalmatica: è del colore liturgico del giorno; è indossata dal diacono come abito proprio e nei pontificali dal vescovo sotto la casula o pianeta ad indicare la pienezza del sacerdozio;
berretta o tricorno, di vari colori e fogge, a seconda del grado gerarchico o famiglia religiosa di appartenenza;
piviale: è del colore liturgico del giorno; è indossato per le celebrazioni diverse dalla Messa (nel rito ambrosiano anche dai lettori in alcune messe solenni);
Alcuni dei paramenti elencati di seguito sono stati aboliti o resi facoltativi o semplicemente caduti in disuso:
tunicella: del colore liturgico del giorno; indossata in passato anche dal suddiacono;
chiroteche: sono particolari guanti, indossati dai vescovi, dai cardinali e dal papa;
falda papale: camice con lunga falda indossato in tempi passati dal papa durante le celebrazioni;
fanone papale: di forma circolare, tessuto in duplice strato, di uso omerale sulla pianeta o casula, cucito di strisce color bianco, oro e rosso, usato dal papa nelle solenni celebrazioni;
manipolo: del colore liturgico del giorno (nella messa tridentina);
Esistono inoltre indumenti ecclesiastici, che vengono utilizzati anche al di fuori delle celebrazioni liturgiche, come l’abito talare e lo zucchetto, mentre altri tipi di abbigliamento ecclesiastico come la greca, il mantello, il tabarro, il ferraiolo ed il ferraiolone, (che sono soprabiti) o il cappello romano (detto anche saturno), che si indossano sopra la veste talare, non sono mai usati nella liturgia.
Plinio il Vecchio -Amore per la natura, la terra, le tradizioni agricole .
Il nome di Plinio è indissolubilmente legato all’immane tragedia dell’eruzione del Vesuvio del 79 d. C., ed egli è diventato il simbolo dello studioso che sacrificò la propria vita alla scienza (“protomartire della scienza sperimentale” lo ha definito Italo Calvino), e dell’uomo generoso che accorse in aiuto degli sventurati còlti di sorpresa dal tremendo cataclisma. È necessario tuttavia notare che il suo interesse fu sempre rivolto all’osservazione e alla descrizione dei più minuti e svariati aspetti del mondo vegetale, minerale, umano, più che alla speculazione pura, o alla ricerca delle cause dei fenomeni naturali.
Con l’ascesa al potere di Vespasiano e il mutamento di clima politico seguìto alla morte di Nerone e al periodo di anarchia militare degli anni 68/69 d.C., Plinio (chiamato in seguito il Vecchio per distinguerlo dal nipote Plinio il Giovane), che aveva rifiutato ogni incarico sotto gli imperatori Claudio e Nerone preferendo dedicarsi agli studi, vide riaprirsi la strada della carriera politica. La sua fedeltà alla dinastia Flavia non era dovuta né a opportunismo personale, né a piaggeria di cortigiano,ma a condivisione ideale dei suoi valori. Accettò dunque di essere più volte procuratore in varie province dell’Impero,incarico che gli permise ampi sopralluoghi di carattere naturalistico, etnografico, geografico, in terre straniere. Fu poi nominato capo della flotta ancorata a capo Miseno, e qui trovò la morte durante l’eruzione del Vesuvio del 79 d. C. mentre si recava a portare soccorso alle popolazioni colpite da quel tragico evento naturale (della morte di Plinio durante l’eruzione del Vesuvio si è parlato in Umbrialeft del 27/2/2015)
Nulla è rimasto di altre sue opere, ma la“NaturalisHistoria”, dedicata a Tito, figlio di Vespasiano e pubblicata nel 77, gli ha riservato nei secoli grande fama. L’importanza di questa poderosa opera enciclopedica, preziosa per quasi tutte le discipline scientifiche, è incalcolabile. Le notizie in essa riportate sono trentaquattromila (frutto della consultazione di duemila volumi di cinquecento autori), e spaziano dalla geografia alla cosmologia, dall’antropologia alla etnografia, dalla zoologia alla biologia e alla medicina, dalla metallurgia alla mineralogia, con ampi excursus anche di storia dell’arte.
Dovunque lo portarono i diversi incarichi della sua carriera, Plinio osservò con un genuino interesse naturalistico-scientifico l’infinita varietà dei fenomeni della natura, la fauna, la flora, gli usi e i costumi degli uomini. Annotava le osservazioni dal vivo, e gli appunti delle sue quotidiane letture che poi costituirono il materiale per la composizione della “NaturalisHistoria”, sintesi enciclopedica dell’universo naturale, ma scritta in funzione dell’uomo.
Al mondo vegetale Plinio dedica un’attenzione particolare: sorprendente è il suo spirito di osservazione rivolto alle più comuni piante spontanee. Troviamo dappertutto tracce di esperienze vissute, echi di cose viste e non soltanto lette: i luoghi dell’infanzia nella campagna lombarda, i paesaggi lacustri, i canneti, i salici presso le acque del lago Lario, la fertile e lussureggiante terra nei dintorni di Pompei dove egli soggiornò negli ultimi anni della sua vita, ma anche le fitte foreste di alberi di alto fusto che “aggiungono ombra al cielo” nei territori germanici dove si era recato come Ufficiale di cavalleria, i desolati paesaggi che si affacciano sul mare del Nord le cui terre flagellate continuamente dalle onde dell’oceano sono prive di alberi e di ogni vegetazione. Con semplicità e simpatia è svolta la trattazione delle più umili piante degli orti: la lattuga, il cavolo, il basilico, la rughetta, la ruta, la menta, la malva, l’origano, accompagnate sempre da brevi note sui rimedi contro le malattie o gli insetti che le infestano.
In giorni come i nostri, nei quali si fa un gran parlare di cibi transgenici, giova forse ricordare il sarcasmo di questo autore che non finisce mai di stupirci con le sue “anticipazioni”, contro i prodotti creati artificialmente, come ad esempio gli asparagi: la natura aveva creato gli asparagi di bosco, in modo che chiunque potesse raccoglierli dove spuntavano, ma “ecco che compaiono gli asparagi coltivati, e Ravenna ne produce di tali che raggiungono il peso di una libbra. Che prodigi operano i buongustai!” Parlando poi della differenza di sapore tra i frutti o gli ortaggi selvatici e quelli coltivati, egli nota che i primi hanno sempre un sapore più intenso e gradevole.
Se i profumi dell’Arabia e dell’India e la loro importazione e diffusione gli suggeriscono considerazioni moralistiche contro il lusso, anche il desiderio di prodotti alimentari sempre più raffinati, riservati ai ricchi, suscitano la sua riprovazione: “la forza del denaro può tutto, e anche l’alimentazione si differenzia a seconda degli strati sociali: un pane raffinato, elaborato, prodotto con le migliori farine riservato ai ricchi e un altro più rozzo per la plebe”. Senza dubbio tale atteggiamento non è dettato da istanze di democrazia, ma da un’etica conservatrice diffidente nei confronti dell’evoluzione economica, della trasformazione dei metodi produttivi, dell’allargamento dei mercati, dell’importazione di prodotti stranieri che cambiano i costumi e le abitudini tradizionali. Tale posizione ideologica induce l’Autore a considerare l’eccesso di raffinatezza causa di decadenza, e le nuove inquietanti forme di lusso e di ricercatezza pericolose per gli equilibri sociali.
Trattando delle essenze odorose estratte dalle piante non potevano mancare le frecciate contro il lusso, tanto più deplorevole in quanto costringe a sborsare fino a quattrocento denari per poter disporre di modeste quantità di profumo, un lusso dunque “fra tutti il più vano; infatti le perle e le gemme almeno passano agli eredi, le vesti durano nel tempo: i profumi invece si dissolvono istantaneamente e muoiono appena nati. Il loro massimo pregio è che quando passa una donna, la sua scia attira anche chi è affaccendato in tutt’altre cose”.
Sempre in materia di divagazioni vegetali, l’uso di trattare gli alberi in modo da rimanere nani (come accade oggi, con una moda importata dal Giappone) induce il “naturalista” Plinio a scrivere con disgusto: “l’uomo ha inventato persino l’aborto degli alberi!” Non disdegna però, da uomo pratico e realista quale egli è, tutte le invenzioni della tecnica che hanno reso la vita dell’uomo, e soprattutto dell’agricoltore, notevolmente più agevole e produttiva: vere e proprie conquiste dell’ingegno umano sono dunque giustamente considerati l’aratro, la zappa, i rastrelli, le chiavi, le serrature.
In materia di agricoltura Plinio si mostra particolarmente esauriente: egli infatti scrive in modo che anche i contadini possano capire, e a tal fine lascia una numerosa serie di notizie a volte più accurate di quelle che scrittori dedicatisi esclusivamente ad argomenti agricoli, come Columella, avevano registrato.
Plinio giunge fino a informarci sull’uso e le qualità dei concimi animali. È perciò frequente imbattersi in consigli che restano validi ancora oggi e di uso comune nelle nostre campagne, ovviamente dove si coltiva ancora in modo non industriale: concimare il terreno irrorandolo con acqua dove sono stati messi a macerare i lupini, usare spruzzature di zolfo e calce sulle chiome e i fusti degli alberi per evitare malattie parassitarie, spargere il terreno di cenere per arricchirlo di sostanze minerali, rincalzare le radici di una pianta perché l’ardore del sole non le bruci, zappettarla all’intorno per rendere più friabili le zolle ed eliminare le erbacce, e tanti altri gesti millenari, nati dall’amore dell’uomo per la terra e dal suo bisogno di renderla più fertile.
Naturalmente anche non manca neanche un vero repertorio di notizie curiose sui primati in altezza o in larghezza, in peso o leggerezza, di alcuni esemplari di piante e di vegetali, oltre a una serie di consigli alimentari che anticipano i più moderni principi dietetici: ad esempio, poiché in una società opulenta i corpi sono appesantiti, Plinio propone fra i molti rimedi l’uso di vegetali e di carni bianche.
Alle proprietà medicamentose delle piante, delle erbe e degli ortaggi, è riservata una apposita trattazione. Singolare, ma completamente attendibile, è quanto Plinio dice dell’umile ma salutare lattuga e delle sue proprietà medicamentose: ha effetti rinfrescanti, elimina il senso di fastidio allo stomaco, stimola l’appetito, placa gli impulsi sessuali, concilia il sonno. A riprova delle prodigiose qualità di questo ortaggio, è riportato il fatto abbastanza noto che Augusto, il primo imperatore romano, grazie ai consigli di Musa, suo medico personale, riuscì a guarire dai suoi disturbi gastrici, proprio con l’uso della lattuga.
Nelle pagine dedicate alla coltivazione dei campi e degli orti, e ai consigli per i trattamenti delle piante tipicamente italiane, più che altrove si sente l’anima contadina di Plinio, il quale, anche mentre i suoi incarichi di funzionario del Palazzo lo tenevano chiuso nella sede degli archivi imperiali, non perdeva la mentalità e la sensibilità di chi ama la terra e le tradizioni agricole, come era stato per Virgilio. In tal modo mentre egli enumera le specie vegetali, abbandona spesso l’arida veste del compilatore o dell’agronomo, e il suo gusto per l’erudizione o il collezionismo di dati, per ascoltare l’anima della terra, il suo respiro quando viene liberata dalle erbacce, la sua felicità quando è vangata o arata per accogliere nuove sementi, e vede con stupore sempre nuovo il ripetersi miracoloso dei cicli produttivi, i colori dei suoi prodotti, lo spuntare di nuove gemme sui rami degli alberi dopo la potatura. Così egli sente gli alberi come creature viventi, che soffrono quando sono attaccate da parassiti, flagellate dalla grandine, o abbattute dal fulmine, ma ancor più quando è l’incuria degli uomini a procurare loro danni irreparabili.
Plinio aveva sempre vissuto con ammirevole “spirito di servizio”, distinguendosi in operosità, sete di sapere, interesse per ogni forma di conoscenza. Si era imposto di dedicare ogni momento disponibile del giorno e molte ore della notte allo studio diceva infatti che vivere è vegliare (“vita, vigilia est”).
Morì all’età di 56 anni, ma poté orgogliosamente consegnare ai posteri la sua miniera di notizie, documento d’inestimabile valore, ma anche testimonianza d’una eccezionale dedizione alla propria vocazione conoscitiva e insieme umanitaria, testimoniata da un quasi volontario incontro con la morte, mentre tutti, durante l’eruzione del Vesuvio, cercavano disperatamente di fuggirla.

Al contrario delle illusioni degli idealisti, per Karl Marx nella modernità a dominare è il duro realismo, il particolarismo imperante nella società civile con il suo fondamento meramente empirico, immediato: il bisogno pratico dell’individuo egoista, la brama di profitto e l’implacabile legge del mercato.
La rivoluzione politica borghese ha costituito per Karl Marx e Friedrich Engels un progresso decisivo nella storia spazzando via la commistione immediata di vita sociale e politica propria del mondo feudale che separava il cittadino dalla comunità statuale, negando ogni sovranità popolare, essendo il popolo confinato in una serie di corporazioni, ceti e gilde gelose custodi delle proprie libertà-privilegi. “L’emancipazione politica è al tempo stesso la dissoluzione della vecchia società. La rivoluzione politica è la rivoluzione della società civile. Quale era il carattere della vecchia società? La feudalità. La vecchia società civile aveva immediatamente un carattere politico ossia gli elementi della vita borghese, come per esempio la proprietà, famiglia o il tipo di lavoro erano, nella forma della signoria fondiaria, del ceto e della corporazione, innalzati a elementi della vita statale. In tale forma essi determinavano il rapporto del singolo individuo verso la totalità dello Stato, vale a dire il suo rapporto politico, cioè il suo rapporto di separazione ed esclusione dalle altre parti costitutive della società civile. Quell’organizzazione della vita del popolo, infatti, non elevava il possesso e il lavoro ad elementi sociali, ma piuttosto portava a compimento la separazione dalla totalità statale e li costituiva (possesso e lavoro) in società particolari all’interno della società” [1].
Dunque, nel sistema feudale l’uomo non era libero, né la società civile indipendente, ma la posizione dell’individuo rispetto allo Stato era fissata dalla nascita e le libertà in quanto privilegi determinavano sfera politica e civile. Come osserva a ragione a questo proposito Marx: “le funzioni e le condizioni vitali della società civile rimanevano ancor sempre politiche, anche se politiche nel senso della feudalità, ovvero che escludevano l’individuo dalla totalità statale, trasformavano il rapporto particolare della sua corporazione con la totalità dello Stato nel suo proprio rapporto universale con la vita del popolo, così come la sua determinata attività e situazione civile nella sua attività e situazione universale. Come conseguenza di questa organizzazione, l’unità dello Stato, come coscienza, volontà e attività dell’unità dello Stato, il potere universale dello Stato, appare altrettanto necessariamente come affare particolare di un sovrano separato dal popolo e dai suoi servitori” [2]. D’altra parte a un certo grado di sviluppo dei mezzi di produzione e di scambio, feudali “le condizioni nelle quali la società feudale produceva e scambiava, vale a dire l’organizzazione feudale dell’agricoltura e della manifattura, in una parola i rapporti feudali di proprietà, non corrisposero più alle forze produttive già sviluppate. Quelle condizioni, invece di favorire la produzione, la inceppavano. Esse si trasformarono in altrettante catene. Dovevano essere spezzate, e furono spezzate” [3].
La rivoluzione “fece necessariamente a pezzi (… ) tutte le espressioni della separazione tra il popolo e la sua comunità” [4] e sostituì al privilegio quale espressione politica dell’età feudale “il diritto puro e semplice, il diritto uguale” [5]. In tal modo la gestione della cosa pubblica, dello Stato cessava d’esser affare particolare d’un sovrano o d’un ceto politico particolare per divenire “affare universale”.
Nella fase più radicale e avanzata della lotta per il potere le esigenze politiche erano talvolta entrate in contraddizione con il loro presupposto strutturale, la proprietà privata borghese, fondamento della società civile moderna. Tale contraddizione era stata astrattamente superata mediante il terrore. I giacobini si erano illusi di poter riplasmare, configurare lo Stato politico moderno sul modello antico, reprimendo nel terrore le “manifestazioni vitali” della società civile borghese. “Robespierre, Saint-Just ed il loro partito sono caduti perché hanno scambiato la comunità antica, realisticamente democratica, che poggiava sul fondamento della schiavitù reale, con lo Stato moderno rappresentativo, spiritualisticamente democratico, che poggia sulla schiavitù emancipata, sulla società civile. Che colossale illusione essere costretti a riconoscere e sanzionare nei diritti dell’uomo la società civile moderna, la società dell’industria, della concorrenza generale, degli interessi privati perseguenti liberamente i loro fini, dell’anarchia, dell’individualità naturale e spirituale alienata a se stessa, e volere poi nello stesso tempo annullare nei singolo individui le manifestazioni vitali di questa società, e volere modellare la testa politica di questa società nel modo antico!” [6].
Nel fuoco della lotta la differenza fra emancipazione politica e sociale tendeva a sfumare, dal momento che la rivoluzione costituiva un passaggio necessario e decisivo alla realizzazione d’entrambe e l’inadeguato sviluppo delle forze produttive impediva il porsi di problematiche che non corrispondevano a un bisogno storico reale. Così i giacobini, per difendere la rivoluzione di contro a conservatori e reazionari, avevano finito per doverne combattere lo stesso presupposto reale, la struttura sociale per cui si battevano, come appare evidente nel conflitto con la Montagna e i Girondini.
La rivoluzione permanente, dunque, non poteva superare il momento del terrore quale negazione determinata del feudalesimo, ma solo astratta delle proprie basi strutturali, della proprietà privata, se in contrasto con le superiori esigenze dello Stato che le impedivano di realizzare l’emancipazione sociale. “Certo: in tempi in cui lo Stato politico nasce violentemente, come Stato politico, dalla società borghese, quando l’emancipazione umana cerca di realizzarsi sotto forma di emancipazione politica, lo Stato può e deve giungere fino a sopprimere la religione, ad annientare la religione; ma solo nel modo in cui perviene a sopprimere la proprietà privata, cioè coll’imposizione di un limite massimo, colla confisca, coll’imposta progressiva, appunto come giunge alla soppressione della vita con la ghigliottina. Nei momenti in cui la vita politica sente più specialmente se stessa, essa cerca di soffocare il proprio presupposto, la società borghese e i suoi elementi, e di porsi per l’uomo come la reale e perfetta vita del genere umano. E questo può aver luogo soltanto tramite una violenta opposizione alle proprie condizioni di vita, solo in quanto la rivoluzione si dichiari permanente, e il dramma politico termina perciò necessariamente con la restaurazione della religione, della proprietà privata, di tutti gli elementi della società borghese, come la guerra si conclude con la pace” [7]. L’emancipazione politica è, in effetti, “gravata da un limite interno, strutturale, che le impedisce di rispondere alla questione cui essa conduce (con il suo stesso «fallimento»), quella dell’avvento dell’universalità concreta” [8].
Non erano sorte le condizioni oggettive per l’emancipazione sociale, in quanto “una formazione sociale non perisce finché non si siano sviluppate tutte le forze produttive a cui può dare corso; nuovi e superiori rapporti di produzione non subentrano mai, prima che non siano maturate in seno alla vecchia società le condizioni materiali della loro esistenza” [9]. Né era sorta l’esigenza soggettiva nei suoi rappresentanti più avanzati – non essendo germogliato un bisogno effettivo dell’emancipazione sociale neppure nei sanculotti.
Dunque, solo la prima negazione: la rivoluzione della società civile, la dissoluzione dei precedenti assetti di proprietà su cui si fondava il feudalesimo era conforme ai bisogni effettuali dell’epoca, mentre la seconda negazione era destinata a restare un mero dover essere [10]. La borghesia manteneva salde nelle proprie mani le redini del processo storico e così, compiuta la prima negazione, la seconda venne archiviata, ridotta dal Termidoro a fantasma o utopia. Del resto, “non basta che il pensiero spinga verso la realizzazione; la realtà stessa deve spingersi verso il pensiero” [11]. Tanto più che “la sentimentale borghesia ha dovunque sacrificato la rivoluzione al suo dio, la Proprietà. La controrivoluzione ora ripudia questo dio” [12]. Riassumendo: non appena la furia trasformatrice dell’intero assetto della vecchia società si arrestò, il poetico, l’epico cittadino rivoluzionario lasciava progressivamente il campo al prosaico uomo borghese [13].

Prodotto della rivoluzione politica, anche al di là degli scopi dei differenti attori, non è altro che la rivoluzione borghese, il cui risultato sancisce quali leggi dello Stato i rapporti fondamentali della società civile. Il dibattito sul superamento dello Stato in Marx è in parte viziato dal fatto che il giovane Marx aveva in mente lo Stato hegeliano-borghese, lo Stato politico de La questione ebraica, lo Stato che definisce democratico. Solo in seguito al sorgere dell’idea di uno Stato socialista questa problematica sarà in parte superata.

Poesia di Giuseppe Ungaretti- in Memoria di Moammed Sceab
Giuseppe Ungaretti (Alessandria d’Egitto, 8 febbraio 1888 – Milano, 1º giugno 1970) è uno dei tre grandi poeti dell’Ermetismo italiano. Trasferitosi a Parigi nel 1912, prese parte alla Prima guerra mondiale nelle trincee del Carso e poi in Champagne. Dal 1935 al 1942 insegnò in Brasile e dal 1947 al 1965 fu professore di letteratura moderna alla Sapienza.
Si ritrovarono a Parigi, complice il comune amore per la poesia, e qui soggiornarono condividendo lo stesso domicilio all’hotel Rue de Carmes.[2] Uniti emotivamente e artisticamente dalla stessa sofferenza per la comune condizione di “apolidi sradicati”, continuarono qui la loro produzione letteraria[3]. Mohammed scrisse con lo pseudonimo di “Marcèl”. Incapace di superare la sua crisi di identità[4], divenuto dipendente dall’uso dell’assenzio, Shehab morì suicida[5] nel suo appartamento il 9 settembre 1913, dopo avere distrutto tutta la sua opera letteraria, di cui non ci resta più traccia se non nelle note di Ungaretti che la descrive come scritta in “purissimo francese” e fortemente legata alla ragione e alla logica, quasi in antitesi con la sua “poesia dell’inesprimibile”.
A lui Ungaretti, nel 1916, dedicò la poesia “In memoria“[6], che apre la sua raccolta d’esordio Il porto sepolto, scritta durante la prima guerra mondiale mentre serviva come militare a Locvizza sul fronte del Carso. Shehab viene ricordato nella poesia come “alter ego” del poeta italiano e vittima di una sorte e di una fine che avrebbe potuto essere la stessa per entrambi. Della figura di Shehab, nel 1963 in un’intervista al Corriere della Sera, Ungaretti disse: “simbolo di una crisi delle società e degli individui che ancora perdura, derivata dall’incontro e scontro di civiltà diverse e dall’urto e conseguenti sconvolgimenti tra tradizioni politiche e il fatale evolversi storico dell’umanità”.

Questa poesia di Giuseppe Ungaretti Cent’anni sono passati da quando il poeta combatteva e conosceva gli orrori della guerra sul Carso, “scontando la morte vivendo”; in mezzo ai brevi componimenti nel quale descriveva la terribile vita di trincea, ebbe a ricordare un amico. “Locvizza, il 30 settembre 1916”, reca il quaderno di Ungaretti; e Locvizza, o Lokvica, è nei pressi del Monte San Michele “bagnato di sangue italiano”, come dice Fuoco e mitragliatrici. Nei pressi, anche, di San Martino del Carso. Luoghi di guerra dove Ungaretti si trovava non di rado a ricordare episodi della vita civile, che sembrava oramai lontana diecimila anni. Una meditazione continua sulla vita e sulla morte, sull’amore e sulla trascendenza.
Tra questi episodi, la vicenda di un amico che si era tolto la vita a Parigi soltanto tre anni prima, nel 1913. Si chiamava Moammed Sceab, così Ungaretti scrive il suo nome nascondendo il vero nome di Muḥammad Shihāb; aveva ventisei anni ed era un egiziano di nobile origine libanese. Era stato coinquilino di Ungaretti in un albergo fatiscente di Rue des Carmes, nel quinto Arrondissement, albergo nel quale si era suicidato. Un episodio, come tutti gli altri, che la guerra aveva certamente contribuito a ricordare, a suscitare; come se ricordare una vita facesse da contraltare alla morte che, in trincea, sempre stava dappresso.
E’ la storia di un senza radici, o di uno sradicato; una storia comune allora come adesso. Di una persona che, esule in un paese straniero, sente di non farne e di non poterne far parte allo stesso modo in cui, oramai, il suo stesso paese gli è diventato estraneo. Se, indubbiamente, è opportuno maneggiare la parola “identità” con molta attenzione, è altrettanto indubbio che la crisi di identità è una tragedia personale che, in parecchi casi, va ad aggiungersi alle altre tragedie che un esule, un profugo, un rifugiato deve subire sulle proprie spalle. Tra queste, la solitudine totale.
Una grande importanza nella storia della mia vita e nella storia della mia poesia deriva dall’incontro, ad un certo momento della mia giovinezza, con Enrico Pea ad Alessandria d’Egitto. Enrico Pea faceva ad Alessandria il commerciante di marmi e nello stesso tempo aveva messo su, sviluppando il laboratorio di falegnameria del suocero, una segheria meccanica. Sopra la segheria meccanica – era ingegnoso Pea -aveva pensato di starci di casa e di destinare uno stanzone, uno stanzone enorme, e altri stanzini accanto allo stanzone enorme, ai gruppi sovversivi che, in quel periodo erano numerosi ad Alessandria.
Tra i giovani sovversivi di Alessandria che si raccoglievano nella baracca del mio amico Pea, c’era un arabo – era forse l’unico arabo in quella baracca – e questo arabo era Moammed Sceab. Moammed Sceab era anche stato mio compagno di scuola. Quindi eravamo doppiamente uniti; eravamo uniti nelle speranze di un mondo organizzato con maggior giustizia, ed eravamo uniti dai ricordi di infanzia e dalle aspirazioni letterarie che avevamo l’uno e l’altro. Aspirazioni diverse: io credevo in una poesia dove il segreto dell’uomo (fin da allora) trovasse in qualche modo un’eco, credevo nella poesia dell’inesprimibile, e invece Sceab credeva – mente logica, arabo discendente da quelli che avevano inventato l’algebra – credeva invece in una poesia strettamente legata alla ragione.
Ecco. Ed avevamo, in fondo, in comune anche un altro dramma: l’uno e l’altro avevamo un’educazione europea, occidentale, francese. Anch’io. Io ero nato in un paese che non era il mio, ero nato ad Alessandria, lontano dalle mie tradizioni; ero lontano dai paesaggi, dalle immagini che avevano accompagnato la vita di tutti i miei. Eravamo l’uno e l’altro, per ragioni diverse, degli uomini che non erano avviati in un modo naturale a compiere il loro destino. E naturalmente queste cose non avvengono nell’uomo senza turbamenti e senza strazi a volte terribili. E la mia, la nostra gioventù, la nostra prima gioventù, quella mia e quella di Sceab, è cosparsa di giovani, di giovani compagni che nelle stesse circostanze delle nostre si troncarono la vita. E anche Sceab a un certo momento si troncò la vita. Sceab a Parigi, lontano dalla sua terra africana – o dalla sua terra araba perché in fondo viveva in Egitto ma non era africano, veniva dal Libano – essendo stato rilavorato da una cultura e da una tradizione diversa, non resisté al dissidio e anche lui si uccise. sospesi tra una tradizione e una vita lasciate dietro di sé come in un gorgo che si richiude, ed una nuova condizione materiale e culturale che è pressoché impossibile interiorizzare. E’ la condizione usuale del déraciné che Ungaretti ben conosceva. Nato a Alessandria d’Egitto da genitori toscani (lucchesi), dall’Egitto Ungaretti si era trasferito in Francia dove si sentì sempre un senza patria.
Nelle prime edizioni del Porto sepolto, “In memoria” si trova quasi isolata, all’inizio, come se si trattasse di una dedica. Nella raccolta complessiva L’allegria, pubblicata molti anni dopo (nel 1931), il tema complessivo è quello della guerra; e la poesia dedicata all’emico egiziano suicida è ancora una volta lasciata a sé stante, legata indissolubilmente quanto indefinitamente alla guerra.
Tentare con tutte le proprie forze di adattarsi, o di “integrarsi” come si direbbe adesso. Arrivare a cambiare nome; quante volte, conoscendo per intenzione o per caso un attuale immigrato, al sentirsi domandare il proprio nome questi risponde declinando un nome locale, Pietro, Giuseppe, Maria, al posto del proprio nome vero? Qualche anno fa, all’Elba, arrivava sempre a casa un ragazzo del Ghana a vendere la sua mercanzia di quart’ordine; per tutti si chiamava “Alessandro”. Il proprio nome è la propria identità; è ciò per cui tutti ti riconoscono come appartenente ad una tradizione o ad un’altra. In questo il poeta Ungaretti, che pure nome non lo aveva cambiato, si riconosce appieno; l’amico Moammed Sceab è il suo alter ego. Una condizione che il poeta si trova a ricordare e a fissare in versi in una situazione terribile, lontanissima eppure vicina. Lo fa sconvolgendo totalmente una tradizione poetica intera: un linguaggio fatto di parole comunissime, secco, dalla sintassi elementare. Quasi dei piccoli gridi interiori che riescono, però, a coprire il frastuono dei combattimenti.

Sarebbe forse inutile, al giorno d’oggi, chiedere o addirittura esigere che di tutte queste cose si tenesse conto di fronte a un immigrato; eppure sono cose che molti, anche in questo paese, hanno vissuto. Sicuramente, essere in una trincea a costante e diretto contatto con la morte poteva aiutare a penetrare nel dramma vissuto da chi aveva lasciato il proprio paese per sempre; morendo, resterà una qualche traccia della nostra vita? La risposta del poeta è la poesia stessa, che è anche una risposta di umanità e di amicizia; una risposta attraverso la quale la vita torna a scorrere. Il nome di Moammed Sceab, quello autentico, è rimasto.
Non così quello, ad esempio, delle centinaia di migranti periti in fondo al mare Mediterraneo. Annegati due volte, nel mare e nella massa dei diseredati. Privati di tutto, anche della propria individualità di esseri umani. Ridotti a numeri di statistiche, e senza nessun poeta che si ricordi di loro nel momento estremo. A tutte queste persone vorrei dedicare questa poesia, scritta nell’infuriare di una guerra. [RV]

In memoria, la poesia che apre la raccolta Il porto sepolto, è dedicata a Moammed Sceab, amico di Ungaretti durante l’infanzia trascorsa ad Alessandria d’Egitto ed emigrato come lui a Parigi. Moammed, però, non riesce a sopportare la sua condizione di nomade senza patria e si suicida nel 1913 in una stanza dell’albergo di rue des Carmes dove alloggiava anche il poeta. In Vita di un uomo, Ungaretti definisce Moammed Sceab un ragazzo dalle idee chiare che – a differenza di lui, rimasto fedele a Mallarmé e Leopardi – prediligeva Baudelaire ed era addirittura soggiogato da Nietzsche, autori che spesso diventavano per i due amici occasione di discussioni interminabili.

La poesia consiste in una serie di informazioni scarne (Si chiamava, Fu Marcel), con riferimenti a luoghi ben precisi (Parigi/dal numero 5 della rue des Carmes; camposanto d’Ivry), espresse in strofe e versi spezzati che conferiscono alla narrazione un tono distaccato e doloroso ed un ritmo lento, simile a quello di una nenia funebre.
Le parole più significative (suicida, Patria, vivere, sciogliere, Riposa, sempre) stanno da sole, isolate nello spazio bianco del verso; fra queste, Patria, vivere e sciogliere sono precedute – potremmo dire sovrastate – dalla negazione non (non aveva più/Patria; non sapeva più/vivere; non sapeva sciogliere) che esprime l’impossibilità di ricostruire legami, di superare l’isolamento e la solitudine. La congiunzione e posta all’inizio del verso mette in evidenza lo spazio vuoto che la precede nella pagina (e mutò nome; e non sapeva più); quella in maiuscolo all’inizio delle strofe (E non sapeva; E forse io solo) sembra voler creare un faticoso e sofferto raccordo fra i versi separati dagli spazi bianchi, che creano pause cariche di silenzio.

Biografia di ANTONIA POZZI (Milano 1912-1938)- Quando Antonia Pozzi nasce è martedì 13 febbraio 1912: bionda, minuta, delicatissima, tanto da rischiare di non farcela a durare sulla scena del mondo; ma la vita ha le sue rivincite e … … Antonia cresce: è una bella bambina, come la ritraggono molte fotografie, dalle quali sembra trasudare tutto l’amore e la gioia dei genitori, l’avvocato Roberto Pozzi, originario di Laveno, e la contessa Lina, figlia del conte Antonio Cavagna Sangiuliani di Gualdana e di Maria Gramignola, proprietari di una vasta tenuta terriera, detta La Zelata, a, Bereguardo. Il 3 marzo la piccola viene battezzata in San Babila ed eredita il nome del nonno, primo di una serie di nomi parentali (Rosa, Elisa, Maria,Giovanna, Emma), che indicherà per sempre la sua identità. Antonia cresce, dunque, in un ambiente colto e raffinato: il padre avvocato, già noto a Milano; la madre, educata nel Collegio Bianconi di Monza, conosce bene il francese e l’inglese e legge molto, soprattutto autori stranieri, suona il pianoforte e ama la musica classica, frequenta la Scala, dove poi la seguirà anche Antonia; ha mani particolarmente abili al disegno e al ricamo. Il nonno Antonio è persona coltissima, storico noto e apprezzato del Pavese, amante dell’arte, versato nel disegno e nell’acquerello. La nonna, Maria, vivacissima e sensibilissima, figlia di Elisa Grossi, a sua volta figlia del più famoso Tommaso, che Antonia chiamerà “Nena” e con la quale avrà fin da bambina un rapporto di tenerissimo affetto e di profonda intesa. Bisogna, poi, aggiungere la zia Ida, sorella del padre, maestra, che sarà la compagna di Antonia in molti suoi viaggi; le tre zie materne, presso le quali Antonia trascorrerà brevi periodi di vacanza tra l’infanzia e la prima adolescenza; la nonna paterna, Rosa, anch’essa maestra, che muore però quando Antonia è ancora bambina. Nel 1917 inizia per Antonia l’esperienza scolastica: l’assenza, tra i documenti, della pagella della prima elementare, fa supporre che la bimba frequenti come uditrice, non avendo ancora compiuto i sei anni, la scuola delle Suore Marcelline, di Piazzale Tommaseo, o venga preparata privatamente per essere poi ammessa alla seconda classe nella stessa scuola, come attesta la pagella; dalla terza elementare, invece, fino alla quinta frequenta una scuola statale di Via Ruffini. Si trova, così, nel 1922, non ancora undicenne, ad affrontare il ginnasio, presso il Liceo-ginnasio “Manzoni”, da dove, nel 1930, esce diplomata per avventurarsi negli studi universitari, alla Statale di Milano.
Gli anni del liceo segnano per sempre la vita di Antonia: in questi anni stringe intense e profonde relazioni amicali con Lucia Bozzied Elvira Gandini, le sorelle elettive, già in terza liceo quando lei si affaccia alla prima; incomincia a dedicarsi con assiduità alla poesia, ma, soprattutto, fa l’esperienza esaltante e al tempo stesso dolorosa dell’amore. È il 1927: Antonia frequenta la prima liceo ed è subito affascinata dal professore di greco e latino, Antonio Maria Cervi; non dal suo aspetto fisico, ché nulla ha di appariscente, ma dalla cultura eccezionale, dalla passione con cui insegna, dalla moralità che traspare dalle sue parole e dai suoi atti, dalla dedizione con cui segue i suoi allievi, per i quali non risparmia tempo ed ai quali elargisce libri perché possano ampliare e approfondire la loro cultura. La giovanissima allieva non fatica a scoprire dietro l’ardore e la serietà, nonché la severità del docente, molte affinità: l’amore per il sapere, per l’arte, per la cultura, per la poesia, per il bello, per il bene, è il suo stesso ideale; inoltre il professore, ha qualcosa negli occhi che parla di dolore profondo, anche se cerca di nasconderlo, e Antonia ha un animo troppo sensibile per non coglierlo: il fascino diventa ben presto amore e sarà un amore tanto intenso quanto tragico, perché ostacolato con tutti i mezzi dal padre e che vedrà la rinuncia alla “vita sognata” nel 1933, “non secondo il cuore, ma secondo il bene”, scriverà Antonia, riferendosi ad essa. In realtà questo amore resterà incancellabile dalla sua anima anche quando, forse per colmare il terribile vuoto, si illuderà di altri amori, di altri progetti , nella sua breve e tormentata vita. Nel 1930 Antonia entra all’Università nella facoltà di lettere e filosofia;
vi trova maestri illustri e nuove grandi amicizie: Vittorio Sereni, Remo Cantoni, Dino Formaggio, per citarne alcune; frequentando il Corso di Estetica, tenuto da Antonio Banfi, decide di laurearsi con lui e prepara la tesi sulla formazione letteraria di Flaubert, laureandosi con lode il 19 novembre 1935. In tutti questi anni di liceo e di università Antonia sembra condurre una vita normalissima, almeno per una giovane come lei, di rango alto-borghese, colta, piena di curiosità intelligente, desta ad ogni emozione che il bello o il tragico o l’umile suscitano nel suo spirito: l’amore per la montagna, coltivato fin dal 1918, quando ha incominciato a trascorrere le vacanze a Pasturo, paesino ai piedi della Grigna, la conduce spesso sulle rocce alpine, dove si avventura in molte passeggiate e anche in qualche scalata, vivendo esperienze intensissime, che si traducono in poesia o in pagine di prosa che mettono i brividi, per lo splendore della narrazione e delle immagini; nel 1931 è in Inghilterra, ufficialmente per apprendere bene l’inglese, mentre, vi è stata quasi costretta dal padre, che intendeva così allontanarla da Cervi; nel 1934 compie una crociera, visitando la Sicilia, la Grecia, l’Africa mediterranea e scoprendo, così, da vicino, quel mondo di civiltà tanto amato e studiato dal suo professore e il mondo ancora non condizionato dalla civiltà europea, dove la primitività fa rima, per lei, con umanità; fra il 1935 e il 1937 è in Austria e in Germania, per approfondire la conoscenza della lingua e della letteratura tedesca, che ha imparato ad amare all’Università, seguendo le lezioni di Vincenzo Errante, lingua che tanto l’affascina e che la porta a tradurre in italiano alcuni capitoli di “Lampioon”, di M. Hausmann. Intanto è divenuta “maestra” in fotografia: non tanto per un desiderio di apprenderne la tecnica, aridamente, quanto perché le cose, le persone, la natura hanno un loro sentimento nascosto che l’obiettivo deve cercare di cogliere, per dar loro quell’eternità che la realtà effimera del tempo non lascia neppure intravedere. Si vanno così componendo i suoi album, vere pagine di poesia in immagini.
Questa normalità, si diceva, è, però, solamente parvenza. In realtà Antonia Pozzi vive dentro di sé un incessante dramma esistenziale, che nessuna attività riesce a placare: né l’insegnamento presso l’Istituto Tecnico Schiaparelli, iniziato nel ‘37 e ripreso nel ’38; né l’impegno sociale a favore dei poveri, in compagnia dell’amica Lucia; né il progetto di un romanzo sulla storia della Lombardia a partire dalla seconda metà dell’Ottocento; né la poesia, che rimane, con la fotografia, il luogo più vero della sua vocazione artistica. La mancanza di una fede, rispetto alla quale Antonia, pur avendo uno spirito profondamente religioso, rimase sempre sulla soglia, contribuisce all’epilogo: è il 3 dicembre del 1938.
Lo sguardo di Antonia Pozzi, che si era allargato quasi all’infinito, per cogliere l’essenza del mondo e della vita, si spegne per sempre mentre cala la notte con le sue ombre viola.

Scoperte straordinarie presentate dal Museo Civico Archeologico della Sabina Tiberina
Il Museo Civico Archeologico della Sabina Tiberina, sito in piazza Duomo a Fara in Sabina, a partire da oggi apre le proprie porte a un’esposizione temporanea, ovvero alcuni reperti archeologici appartenenti alla storia del territorio sabino. Si tratta infatti di antichi resti di eccezionale importanza, che promettono di gettare nuova luce sulla storia di Fara in Sabina e i suoi dintorni. Questi reperti, frutto di recenti scavi condotti nei pressi della stazione della frazione di Passo Corese (durante un intervento di bonifica dagli ordigni bellici è stata infatti incredibilmente rinvenuta una necropoli romana, ovvero ben 42 sepolture datate dal I al III secolo d.C.) includono gli scheletri di una comunità vissuta qui oltre 1800 anni fa. Nello specifico, si tratta delle unità sepolcrali T36 e T38 che offrono preziose informazioni sulle pratiche funerarie e sulla società dell’epoca: viene considerato infatti uno dei ritrovamenti più prestigiosi degli ultimi anni.
A svelare i dettagli e i segreti affascinanti di questa scoperta, tra cui lo studio effettuato sulle sepolture che include l’analisi delle informazioni dirette e indirette, è stato il convegno tenutosi ieri, venerdì 6 settembre, presso la Sala Civica Santa Chiara di Fara in Sabina che ha riunito il sindaco di Fara in Sabina, Roberta Cuneo, il soprintendente Alessandro Betori (che all’epoca del rinvenimento delle tombe era il funzionario archeologo della zona e seguì direttamente i lavori) e altre figure del settore. “Ci tengo a manifestare a tutti voi – dichiara il sindaco Cuneo – il pensiero di tutta l’amministrazione comunale di Fara in Sabina, cioè che per noi è davvero importante condividere la storia del nostro territorio. E con “nostro” intendiamo una vasta area che non comprende solo il nostro Comune, dato che l’uomo è da sempre un viaggiatore. Per questo ringraziamo gli studiosi e la Soprintendenza, che ci hanno permesso di scoprire un altro tassello del nostro passato riguardante una comunità che ha vissuto sul nostro territorio”.
Il convegno – presentato da Alessandra Petra, direttrice del Museo Civico Archeologico della Sabina Tiberina – è poi proseguito con gli interventi dei diversi relatori presenti che, davanti a una sala gremita di persone, hanno rivelato i dettagli degli scavi e degli studi effettuati negli anni. Durante l’incontro infatti archeologi, studiosi e ricercatori – tra cui anche coloro che sono intervenuti direttamente agli scavi e che in questi anni hanno studiato gli scheletri per capire il sesso, l’età, l’alimentazione, la statura e tutte le altre informazioni (ad esempio gli aspetti di tipo sociale, culturale e religioso) per determinare la loro vita in quell’epoca – hanno esposto ai presenti i propri studi. Tra questi: dott. Alessandro Betori, Soprintendente SABAP per le province di Frosinone e Latina; dott. Emanuele Brucchietti, archeologo; dott. Mauro Lo Castro, Soc. Coop. Il Betilo – Servizi per i Beni Culturali s.r.l; dott.ssa Rosaria Olevano, Soc. Coop. Il Betilo – Servizi per i Beni Culturali s.r.l; dott. Mauro Rubini, Direttore Servizio di Antropologia della SABAP per le province di Frosinone e Latina; dott. Angelo Gismondi, Laboratorio di Botanica, Dipartimento di Biologia, Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata”; dott.ssa Cristina Martínez Labarga, Centro di Antropologia molecolare per lo studio del DNA antico, Dipartimento di Biologia, Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata”; dott.ssa Flavia Maria Novi Bonaccorsi, Conservatore per i Beni Culturali; dott.ssa Tiziana Orsini, Istituto di Biochimica e Biologia cellule CNR di Monterotondo, Roma.
“La ricomposizione ossea di entrambi gli individui – spiega la dott.ssa Tiziana Orsini, riferendosi alle unità sepolcrali T36 e T38 attualmente custodite al Museo Civico Archeologico della Sabina Tiberina di Fara in Sabina – permette di poter appurare quanto gli studi antropologici precedentemente condotti hanno fatto emergere: le condizioni complessive di salute erano buone, nonostante non appartenessero a classi particolarmente agiate. Gli unici indici di deterioramento – continua – sono dovuti a fattori di stress occupazionale/funzionale e a una scarsa igiene orale”. L’incontro, organizzato dalla Pro Loco di Fara in Sabina (gestore ufficiale dell’ufficio turistico comunale e del Museo Civico Archeologico della Sabina Tiberina di Fara in Sabina) – ha quindi offerto un’opportunità unica per immergersi nel mondo affascinante dell’archeologia. E, nello specifico, ha permesso ai partecipanti di scoprire un altro straordinario tassello riguardante il patrimonio storico culturale di Fara in Sabina. E inoltre, a partire da oggi, chiunque voglia conoscere da vicino questi tesori archeologici potrà farlo visitando il Museo Civico Archeologico della Sabina Tiberina (ubicato presso Palazzo Brancaleoni in piazza Duomo), dove appunto sono conservate le ricostruzioni di due scheletri.

Il Museo Civico Archeologico di Fara in Sabina è uno dei punti di riferimento per la conoscenza della civiltà dei Sabini, in quanto conserva i materiali provenienti dai due centri più importanti della Sabina Tiberina: Cures ed Eretum. Allestito a partire dal 2001 all’interno del rinascimentale Palazzo Brancaleoni (sito in piazza del Duomo) ha visto – nel corso degli anni – le sue collezioni ampliarsi, grazie agli scavi effettuati con regolarità proprio a Cures ed Eretum. Il cospicuo aumento del numero dei materiali ha reso necessario nel corso del tempo l’allestimento di nuove sale: la sala della Scrittura, interamente dedicata al cippo inscritto ritrovato nel greto del Fiume Farfa, e la sala dedicata alla Tomba XXXVI di Colle del Forno.
Della fase rinascimentale, l’edificio conserva intatta la facciata della prima metà del ‘400, mentre gli interni sono stati pesantemente ristrutturati dai successivi proprietari: al tardo barocco possono essere ascritti gli affreschi di una delle sale, dipinti con motivi a grottesche come si usava nei piani nobili delle case di fine ‘70

Lorenzo Rocci, “padre” del famoso dizionario è nato a FARA IN SABINA (RI):
breve biografia e genesi di un’opera grandiosa.

Circa 150.000 lemmi, 2074 pagine, 4148 colonne, più o meno 3 chilogrammi di peso, un lavoro durato oltre 20 anni. Questi sono soltanto alcuni degli straordinari numeri di quello che potremmo definire la “Cappella Sistina” dei vocabolari: il mitico “Rocci”, dalla sua inconfondibile copertina in pelle di colore blu.
E’ trascorso un secolo da quando il gesuita padre Lorenzo Rocci, nato nel 1864 a Fara in Sabina, iniziò in solitaria e con una pazienza certosina il suo “opus magnum”, armato soltanto di appunti e schedine scritte di proprio pugno, per redigere il primo e a tutt’oggi più noto dizionario di greco antico, che da lui prese il nome.
Per oltre mezzo secolo, dalla sua pubblicazione nel 1939 seguita a quattro anni di distanza da quella della versione definitiva, “il Rocci” ha costituito in regime monopolistico la croce e la delizia di generazioni di studenti ginnasiali e liceali che padre Lorenzo (bontà sua), anche dopo la morte che lo colse a Roma nel 1950, ha continuato ad aiutare con le sue innumerevoli citazioni e le famose “frasi fatte” già interamente tradotte in italiano, che da sole potevano trarre d’impaccio i più incerti durante le sempre temibili “versioni dal greco”, fatte in classe sotto lo sguardo vigile del professore di lettere classiche.
La stessa Società Editrice Dante Alighieri, di cui ha fatto la fortuna, riferisce le parole d’ammirazione e ringraziamento pronunziate nei confronti del nostro da un altro illustre grecista, il professor Franco Montanari, che nel 1995 ha pubblicato un nuovo vocabolario di greco realizzato però da un “team” composto da una trentina di ricercatori, cui nel 2011 ha fatto seguito l’aggiornamento del primo “Rocci”, per renderne più facile la comprensione ai moderni studenti con l’eliminazione di alcuni arcaismi ormai usciti dal linguaggio comune, frutto anch’esso del lavoro di una dozzina di studiosi dotati di computer.
E per riprendere il paragone iniziale, come Michelangelo che, tutto rapito dal suo capolavoro, poteva lavorare per ore in posizione supina e con le braccia all’insù, disteso su una tavola sospesa ad una ventina di metri d’altezza senza sentire dolore e fatica, così non era raro vedere padre Rocci seduto alla sua scrivania, in una stanza piena di libri, mentre scorreva i suoi appunti “facendo impressione perché, per quanto era preso dal lavoro, per non perdere la concentrazione dimenticava spesso di togliersi il soprabito in pieno agosto”, come raccontò il suo allievo padre Giuseppe Peri.
Figlio di un modesto artigiano, Lorenzo Rocci entrò giovanissimo nella Compagnia di Gesù, completando gli studi filosofici e teologici all’Università Gregoriana e poi quelli classici alla Sapienza, dove si laureò nel 1890. A partire dal 1903 iniziò ad insegnare latino e greco nel Collegio gesuitico di Villa Mondragone, a Frascati, per una carriera destinata a durare oltre quarant’anni.
Grammatico, metricista, storico, agiografo e memorialista, padre Lorenzo fu però prima di tutto un eccelso latinista ed un formidabile grecista, come già ebbero modo d’intuire i componenti della commissione del suo esame di laurea, fra i quali figurava il poeta Giosuè Carducci che, nonostante il noto anticlericalismo, si complimentò personalmente con lui dicendogli: “Lei non solo ha fatto molto bene, ma farà benissimo!”.
Dopo la pubblicazione di numerosi saggi, testi scolastici e grammatiche greche e latine, ecco allora affacciarsi in padre Rocci l’idea di dotare finalmente gli studenti di un vocabolario greco – italiano scritto nella nostra lingua, e non semplicemente tradotto a sua volta da ottocenteschi dizionari di autori tedeschi o inglesi.
La prima copia della sua immane fatica la regalò al coltissimo Papa Pio XII, il quale l’apprezzò a tal punto che lo ringraziò con un biglietto autografo con scritto: “Veramente il tuo lavoro – diletto figlio – benché altissimo per gli scolari, non è un semplice manuale, ma si presenta con tali caratteri di ampiezza e dottrina, anche nuova e recondita, da spiccare tra quanti simili si son pubblicati finora in Italia, anzi da vincerli facilmente”.
Ma padre Rocci, oltre che un esimio studioso e letterato, fu prima di tutto un uomo dalla fede profonda il quale, il tempo che non impiegava negli studi o nell’insegnamento, lo trascorreva nel proprio confessionale nella Chiesa del Gesù, a Roma.
Sul letto di morte, che lo colse all’età di 86 anni, ancora lucidissimo dopo l’estrema unzione volle fumarsi un ultimo sigaro, prima di spirare con la bonarietà e serenità di chi era conscio, in vita sua, di aver ricevuto, ma soprattutto di aver donato tanto a tanti, inclusi i diritti d’autore della sua opera coi quali i Gesuiti avrebbero contribuito a finanziare e finanziano ancora le loro missioni estere.

Torre Pellice – 6 settembre 2024-Iniziato ieri pomeriggio alle 15:30 a Torre Pellice nell’aula sinodale (via Beckwith 2) la 63ma edizione del Convegno storico della Società di studi valdesi, dal titolo «Come si fa una letteratura. Lingue, testi e culture nell’autunno del Medioevo valdese».
Le tre giornate, che si possono seguire anche in streaming sul canale YouTube della SSV o sulla sua pagina Facebook si aprono con il saluto di Gian Paolo Romagnani, presidente della Ssv. Seguiranno, in due sessioni moderate rispettivamente da Andrea Giraudo (organizzatore del convegno) e Attilio Cicchella, le relazioni di Philippe Martel («Ecrire en “langue vulgaire” dans les Alpes du Sud au Moyen Age»); Aline Pons e Matteo Rivoira («Storia linguistica dei valdesi: il contributo della dialettologia»); Lorenzo Ferrarotti («Dialetto-lingua locale e varietà “alte” in Piemonte tra Medioevo e Rinascimento»); Andrea Giraudo («Per un repertorio digitale dell’occitano alpino medievale»). A seguire, visita alla mostra esposta al Centro culturale valdese, «Valdo e i valdesi tra storia e mito».
Il convegno, che è aperto a tutti gli interessati, proseguirà domani con una intensa giornata che comincerà alle 9 con la terza sessione, moderata da Laura Ramello, e le relazioni di Caterina Menichetti («Intorno all’edizione degli Atti degli apostoli. Problemi testuali e messa in contesto»); Joanna Poetz («La réception de la littérature “hussite” dans les manuscrits vaudois»); Matteo Cesena («Il ms. Dublin, Trinity College Library, 269 e i corpora valdese e cataro. Annotazioni codicologiche e paleografiche»); seguirà un momento di discussione e la pausa.
I lavori riprendono alle 11 guidati da Lothar Vogel, con le relazioni di Laura Ramello («La letteratura francoprovenzale nel Medioevo. Un itinerario fra generi, testi e temi»); Federica Fusaroli («Testi e manoscritti in lingua d’oc tra Provenza e Delfinato»); Attilio Cicchella («Prime indagini sulla letteratura devota in volgare italiano nei primi secoli della stampa piemontese»).
